A native of Caen (France-Normandy), born in 1971, Laurent Fleury is a self-taught guitarist. Initially influenced by Iron Maiden, Metallica and Megadeth, he played in several local bands before discovering the music of Yngwie Malmsteen. Intrigued by neo-classical shred, Laurent began to listen to other guitar heroes like Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, and Steve Vai. In order to study these great guitarists he took some lessons from Franck Hebert (an AIM graduate, guest soloist on "Divagations") for six months and then began a long work of apprenticeship for many years. In 1998, Fleury decided to record a solo album, Insomnia, just for himself and his friends enjoyment. But based on the significant interest generated by the first 150 copies distributed, he signed a contract with Multicom-City for a full release in May of 1999. Heavy metal, shred, progressive and neo-classical elements are skillfully blended and presented in Fleury's aggressive debut recording. Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Heavy Metal/Shred), total running time, 42:02
