his CD from guitarist Randy Pevler is a pleasure to listen to. A well-produced album that never causes the ears to grow weary, "Inside Looking Out" features a wide variety of musical styles. It also features real musicians - not just a guitarist and a drum machine. The real, live drummer (Donny Sarian) and bass player (Robby Pagliari) help push the quality of this release past that of most Indie discs. Really hardcore 80's Hard Rock/Metal fans might recognize Pevler from the band "Divine Rite," a group who enjoyed a modicum of success. They had a song featured in the ABC Movie of the Week "Tough Love" and received a four-star write up in legendary Metal mag Kerrrang.
The metal-type tunes are here, but so are several more "airy" pieces. Pevler is a very versatile and skilled guitarist, and it shows on this CD. Highlights for me were the fun, wah-filled four-minute ride called "Table Dancing," the rich acoustic piece entitled, "Fresh Air," the beautiful and introspective "Barker Village" and the clever "D.B. (P.I.)" in which Pevler conveys a story about a 1960's private investigator named Dick Brawn. Randy Pevler is a guitar musician in an age of three-chord, one-hit wonders. He plays with confidence and energy, and his disc "Inside Looking Out" deserves to be in your CD collection.
