Review of "Infectious Licks"
|
aye Foucher is one of Boston's premier female guitar players and has been pioneering the way for her genre for many years now. Her playing style and sound is likened to Joe Satriani while she is every bit as good a player as Joe himself.
Jaye has dabbled with vocal chores on past projects (much like Satriani) but on her debut CD effort, Infectious Licks, Jaye sticks with what sets her apart from the rest of the pack... her over-the-top guitar playing. She wheels and deals guitar runs like a Las Vegas-savvy blackjack dealer -- always in control -- and with the solid backing of drummer Justin Pacy and bassist Luis Espaillat, Foucher is free to stretch out to her heart's content. Even when she does attempt her chance at vocals (Portrait), she comes up aces.
This is an adventurous effort by Jaye Foucher and company and one that will make a lot of new friends and fans alike. Excellent!
