Fusion/Jazz
Susan Orlando writes about the Carl Hupp Project's fusion CD and bonus DVD, Hyper Statue, "Carl recorded 14 songs in two years and had 22 of the best local and not so local musicians play on the CD. Bassist Tony Levin played the Chapman Stick on the song Hyper Statue, which quickly became the title track. Hupp
finished the CD in February 2004, and to be sure, Hyper Statue is a superb and musically diverse instrumental album. Carl also got involved in making a DVD which was not planned either. "I was asked to do a
music video which I was a little skeptical about, but I did it anyway. What was supposed to be a
seven minute video turned out to be an 85 minute DVD. It got so far out of control that video
cameras were rolling throughout all of the sessions. I'm glad we did it now, but it was very hard
trying to produce, record and run video cameras all at once. I don't think I would want to do that
again." A photo gallery and an interview with Carl are also features on the DVD. Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Fusion/Jazz), total running time, 76:47 - Carl Hupp Project @ iTunes!
