Homunculus is guitarist Greg Rapaport's fourth instrumental effort. The sickness continues as Greg delves deep into the grey matter. Rooting around and exploring different attributes of the human psyche, he outlines his findings on his new release, Homunculus. Each song personifies an attribute through its style and
compostion. The main ingredients, fusion, progressive metal and funk are still there, but now they're industrial strength.Rapaport talks about the production, "I utilized some new production skills I gained over the past two years to hopefully create a clearer more punchy recording. I also focused on creating a lot of depth and cool textures to have the listener hear something new each time they listen to it. The idea behind this album is that each song is a facet of one's personality. I personified each song by creating a graphic representation (homunculus) of each song that I feel conveys the emotion that matches the tune itself. Each song is its own character that lives in one's mind and that character has its own paradoxes that I tried to express through the music."
