The California heavy metal band Hightower is now offering their self-titled debut, a full-length CD with 5 instrumentals and 3 vocal tracks of pure, energy-driven, San Francisco style street metal. Spearheaded by guitarist Jake Palladino, this is the band that San Francisco Weekly readers voted the Best Metal Act in the Bay Area for 2005. Although metal is a large part of their style, the band genre-bends enough to warrant a more nuanced classification, such as punk-sludge-instrumental metal. The trio was weaned on everything from New York hardcore to classic rock to sludge to hippie stuff, along with the requisite copious amounts of metal.
