The first official Hellecaster tri-written song. We all had unfinished song ideas, patched them together, and created our own personal Frankenstein!

I couldn`t have cut it any closer getting this one ready. Even once the recording sessions had begun, I was still refining parts, making changes, etc.

My tribute to some of the great jazz that come out of New York City in the `30s and `40s. I can still hear the ghosts today in my playing.

I had the idea to do a piece that sounded like an Irish singer singing in the Scottish highlands and the sound rattled around in my head for quite a while. As we reached our deadline I realized I had better get this song out of my head and onto tape quickly, so I did--written and recorded in about six hours. The final result sounds nothing like my original idea, but I was quite pleased with the outcome anyway.

Two big influences on me were cartoonist Robert Crumb and the Grateful Dead. Here I tried to capture the laid-back vibe of both.

I love the challange of taking traditionally non-guitar friendly music and playing it on the guitar and that`s what it`s all about, isn`t it?

Some fairly new as well as some very early influences were drawn upon to help in the assemblage of this one.
