Fusion
Held To The Light represents the 1996 revival of Gamalon, the killer all-instrumental aggregation who release several albums on the Amherst Records label. The CD offers many of the same pleasures as their previous releases -- blinding guitar virtuosity and rhythms of delirious intensity. Tony Scozzaro handles the lead guitar duties and his playing is more thoughtful and less flashy than previous guitarist George Puleo (who shows up for a guest show in the bubbling "Red Zone"). There's more texture to the rhythm section on Held To The Light -- a greater variety of rhythms and a bigger range of drum sounds, such as the Indian tabla in "Cave" and "The Sword." All in all, a triumphant return for Gamalon. Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Fusion), total running time, 52:09 - Gamalon @ iTunes!
In your opinion, which guitarist has a similar style or sound as Tony Scozzaro?
