Upbeat and melodic, this one was one of those songs that Randy Allen quickly wrote for fun. It was only later that he presented it to Legacy and that it was recorded as the opening track on "Stand and Conquer". Darin added the clean guitar intro once in the studio. We really enjoy opening our "live" shows with this on. The guitar solo fits the "Free To Fly" theme as well. It`s like a wild roller coaster ride and gives one that soaring feeling.

This is probably the one song on "Stand and Conquer" that really fits in with today`s "modern sound" of alternative style music. We based it upon the heavy guitar and bass chops throughout the song and basically fit the vocals around that melody.

I had originally written the guitar riffs and melody parts of this song long before we came up with the lyrics. It also was one of the last songs written for the album and eventually was decided upon to be the title track. This one really highlights the talents of every member of the band. Power Metal at it`s finest!

Written primarily as a guitar driven song, this one reflects our views and feelings on the subject of war. The original concept of this song, especially the drum track, was quite a bit different in the beginning than the finished product that resulted in the end.

This song was written by our vocalist Randy Allen and is an example of a song that kinda fits every category in life when you`re down and out. This one definitely has the feeling of the great eighties power ballads and shows our more melodic side.

Here is probably the most technical song that I wrote on the album outside of the instrumental pieces. By writing this one, we really challenged ourselves to step up and take it to the "next level", both vocally and instrumentally. This song is a prime example of our progressive metal side.

This one kinda emerged simply from the three chord progression in the beginning of the song. Basically, it was written at practice between practicing the other songs and was eventually added as a track to the album.

This one was one of the very first songs that was written for "Stand and Conquer" and that somewhat opened the door for a few of the "heavier" tracks on the album. Tackling the subject of drug-abuse, this one is another good example of the more modern style of music.

The title of this one pretty much sums it up! I wanted an over-the-top "shred" instrumental that combined all the elements of my favorite guitar styles. It`s all here! Progessive to Neo-classical. I was especially pleased with how the clean Jazzy/Fusion breakdown turned out.

I first had come up with the harmonic minor open string part to this one and began expanding on this- the 2nd instrumental on the disc. As I was writing this piece it began to make me visualize an attacking army, standing with their swords raised, so it was quickly named. Multi-layered, this was a favorite of our engineer as well. "The Reckoning is a doubled clean, classical guitar piece with some keyboards. A fitting end to the disc!
