letter his CD should be called SOUL because that is exactly what it is all about. Richie Kotzen has matured and boy can he write a funky, soul influenced song. Throughout "Slow", Richie smoulders with funky R&B type compositions highlighted by some blazing fusion and jazz type guitar work. Kotzen also shines on the bluesy numbers like the CD's opener - Ohio! You might remember kotzen from his earlier solo efforts "Fever Dream" or from his more recent stint with Mr. Big.

Throughout his career Richie has had a knack for writing songs with a solid mixture of blues, funk and over the top guitar playing. His compositions are always refreshing and so easy to listen to. Kotzen plays all the instruments throughout this release as well as handling all vocal duties. A job he does very, very well.

Slow burns with an easy late night sleepy vibe that will please almost everyone. His guitar playing is nothing short of awesome, preferring to play for the song instead of shredding up a storm. When he does cut loose, Richie can rip with the best of em, all the while holding down a solid groove.

This CD makes you wanna get up and shack your booty - Just fire up track 8 (I Can Make You Happy) or track 10 (Come Back) and you will see what I mean. A fantastic effort from a much-underrated artist. Richie Kotzen should be a household word.
