Driving tracks such as "Blood of the Sun", "Dreams of Milk and Honey" and "Southbound Train" with mountainously heavy riffs is guitarist Leslie West on this 1969 debut recording, Mountain, which was remastered and reissued in 1996. At the time, he, along with contemporaries such as Jimmy Page, liked to keep the listener entertained with their versatility, while producer Felix Pappalardi found time to add his talents on bass and keyboards - all prior to officially forming the band which was to someday record "Mississippi Queen". So despite the low budget, the team was able to release a seminal recording which laid the groundwork for more heaviness to come. Rock/Blues, total running time, 35:27 - Leslie West @ iTunes!
