lues band Stone is already one of the hottest bands on the Los Angeles club circuit, and the reputation is growing. A favorite at blues halls
nationwide, Stone was chosen as Best Blues Rock Band by Rock City News magazine in 1998, and has gained a steady following with its up-tempo blend of catchy melody and hard-knock blues licks.
On the new album "Here Before," Stone again preaches the value of good songwriting, with the title track, "Home" and "Transition" showing off tight, well-drawn lyrics opposite a powerful, efficiently produced sound. "I'm Still Breathin'" and "Across the Mojave" show off a time-honored blues approach, assessing life's journey through the good and bad, with enough new-school guitar toughness courtesy of lead player-singer Brad Wilson to make things contemporary.
Stone's best work might still be ahead of it as the band continues to hone its style and cultivate new ideas, but "Here Before" is more than good enough for the here and now.
