his is one of the few CDs that I can truthfully say that I liked from the very beginning, and it's probably going to be one of those CDs that people will love to hate because of it's potential commercial appeal. Every song on this CD is worth a listen.
As you listen to "Here Before", memories of The Allman Brothers Band are brought back due in large part to Brad Wilson's vocal similarity to Gregg Allman. But don't get me wrong here, this is no copycat band -- the sound may be familiar, but the material is original. The material is tight and the production on this record is outstanding. Everything is mixed well and each instrument enhances the other, making it quite easy to listen to.
Some of the standout cuts are the title track "Here Before", "Show Me" and "The Ballad Of John Lee" which is a tribute to the great John Lee Hooker.
The trio, comprised of vocalist/guitarist Wilson, bassist Brian James and drummer J.J. Garcia were recently featured on the soundtrack for the John Carpenter film "Vampires".
This is today's Southern Blues Rock, full of feeling and emotions inspired by the greats of the past like The Allmans, Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. If you are looking for a no frills, no gimmick band who is just into playing quality blues rock, then Stone is the band for you.
