This track was the surprise of the album. Although it`s always
been a powerful live song it never really translated well to being recorded.
After about the umpteenth time of recording it we got the magic mix. Now
it`s more than just a good live song but a good studio song too.

This is a funky rock track. Probably one of the most
popular songs we do and one of the favorite I`ve written. I love the bridge
transition especially. All of the songs on this CD were entirely recorded in
my studio except for this one. The exception being the drums on this track
we kept from an earlier version recorded elsewhere. Even though we merged it
with new stuff no one could tell.

This is a funky blues number. The lead in it is sort of SRV
Texas style, one of my early influences.

This song has changed quite a bit. The version on record here
is very laid back with cleaner tones, etc. Lately we`ve also been doing it
quite a bit heavier as well which translated well with the trio, however the
cleaner guitar tones worked well since we had Damon sitting in on keys.

No radio station will EVER play this. This
song is nearly 15 minutes long and it`s an all out blues jam. That`s the
beauty of doing your own record independently, we had no one to answer to so
we could do something like this. It`s completely self indulgent and over the
top but people always dig it.

I had always envisioned this song with a big organ solo on it
and when Damon agreed to play on the track it just came alive like I
pictured it would.

This song is based on a story out of the Bible where Jacob is
dreaming and he sees angels ascending and descending a great ladder into
Heaven and finally God speaks to him. There are many layers of guitars here
but they all are working towards creating this dreamy ehtereal feeling. This
song was a blast, total freedom.

So here`s the epic song on the disc. It`s also far too long for radio
play, but it`s all part of the idea of the trip it takes you on. One person
called the first half of the song Pink-Floyd like which the more I think of
it is probably right (they were a big influence on me). The second half of
the song is something completely different. It`s sort of a tip of the hat to
Satch and the shredder types. We don`t always get to do this live but when
we do it`s a blast. Lots of overdubbed guitars both electric and acoustic as
well as keyboard parts I played on it.

My idea with this was sort of a Pearl Jam meets jam band idea. You
can hear the drums have this cavernous sound as well as my guitar tone is
tweaked to be more dry sounding on the lead parts. I love leaving little
things like the dialog at the start between Randy and I. Kind of like those
old Hendrix records....remember "What`s this one called Jimi?".....fun stuff
to do.
