attson, of course, stands for Lars Eric Mattson. This guy was once 'discovered' by Shrapnel's infamous Mike Varney and by now should ring some bells because of his solo recordings, and work with the band Vision and/or Astral Grooves.
On this album he is working with Bjorn Lodin, mostly remembered from his work with Baltimoore (new album out now!) and several guest musicians including Patrick Rondat, Erik Norlander, Rob Johnson and others. Drums on all tracks were played by Eddie Sledgehammer (?).
And this bunch together recorded "Another Dimension". The album is a traditional metal album with lots, LOTS of guitar work. All you guitar freaks out there will rave over this, and I hope this will encourage Mr. Mattson to keep up the good work.
Songs like "Burn The Witch" offer tons of lead guitar for all to enjoy and study, and Lodin's vocals fit this blend of Power / Progressive metal like a glove. Quieter songs such as "Don't Lose Your Patience" are a welcome break from all the finger-scorching guitars and balance out the album overall.
Mattson is an excellent player, handling bass and keyboards himself besides of course playing the guitar. Bringing in guest players, however, was a good idea. It's fun comparing the talented musicians throughout the album. This is definitely a step away from the sound of Vision. Here, Mattson displays his talents in all aspects and to top it off, all this lasts for over 70 minutes!
I am pretty sure this album will go down with a lot of people and personally I can't wait to hear from him some more!
