Review of "Guitarchitecture"

his is Rob's most recent CD, initially released in 1998. It's also the album that definitely has the best production and most diversified styles. The compositions are more thought-out/mature and the playing is outstanding, notably the excellent drumming performed by Rick May, as well as the
6-string bass by Karl Gunther. The repertoire is still mainly rock-influenced, but there are also a couple of progressive features, particularly the jazzy approach on the bass -- including some slapping -- and the fusion groove, albeit limited to a couple of tracks. The evolution crunch-wise is
also impressive, with a much thicker, heavier sound than previously (e.g. "Super Charged," displaying a thrash-like riff).
