<title>"Again" By Clark Colborn Now Available - Thursday, January 5, 2012 - 10:10 AM</title>
<link>http://www.guitar9.com/news.html</link>
<description>Clark Colborn's new album is entitled <a href="http://www.guitar9.com/again.html">"Again"</a>, (his second) and it's due to be released on January 2nd. Colborn's first release came out under the name "Clark Plays Guitar." The new disc is a step forward from that debut. The first time around Colborn earned some impressive critical accolades. Gregory Johnson of Beetcafe.com said, "Listening to the CD takes you back to the days when Randy Rhodes and Eddie Van Halen turned playing guitar into an art form." According to Wayne Klinger of Quintessence, "...Clark is definitely something quite different in terms of the way he writes and handles his music. The leads and rhythms are catchy and inspiring; just the whole damn CD is impressive." Michael Molenda, Editor in Chief, Guitar Player Magazine had this to say: "Clark Colborn's fat and massively effected tone comes on like Godzilla, and it shifts between slinky, silky, scary, spiky, and searing. ...his brilliantly schizoid technical/primitive approach to the guitar is pretty exciting. In short, he rocks." With reviews like that some artists might be content to release a "more of the same" sequel. Rather than take the easy route, though, Colborn ups the ante with the follow up. The change can be noted by just looking at the credits as King's X's Ty Tabor serves as the mastering engineer on the release. But the difference doesn't stop there. Colborn admits that on the first disc he held back a bit, playing it a bit safe. With "Again", he says, "I let the songs take control and go where they wanted to go. So I ended up with longer songs (the obvious single, "Lie to Me," is six and a half minutes long!), more complex arrangements (but they still flow and rock!), and vocals."

<title>"Sides" By The Vitali T Project Now Available - Tuesday, December 20, 2011 - 5:26 PM</title>
<link>http://www.guitar9.com/news.html</link>
<description>The brightest in the rock fusion world move the music forward with an awareness of what came before them. That is certainly true of Vitali Tkachenka. A native of Belarus, Vitali began his formal music training under the guidance of widely respected Yuri Dzmitrieu of the Ethno-Trio Troitsa. Under Dzmitrieu's instruction, Vitali was introduced to and profoundly influenced by artists and musicians such as Eric Clapton, Steve Val, George Benson, Eric Johnoson, Joe Satrianl, Al Di Meola, and Gary Moore. Vitali assembles diverse elements in a way that feels natural. He pays homage to his musical roots while pushing beyond those sometimes limited boundaries, taking us on a delightful musical journey. Throughout the pleasing selection of tracks found on <a href="http://www.guitar9.com/sides.html">"Sides"</a>, Vitali T weaves a fusion of new age jazz that flourishes with rock and roll, and a presence of burnished soul. The record moves in-between the tracks quite well, allowing them to bleed into each other, benefiting the cohesive feel of the album. The emotional core of the album is felt through the ebb and flow of each song, and leaves the listener in a state of pure delight. This guy has amazing technique. His feel is incredible, his tone is second to none, and the composition and phrasing are just perfection. If you think Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Larry Carlton, Pat Metheny and Mike Stern are great, this album is for you.

<title>Abnormal Thought Patterns' Self-titled EP/CD Now Available - Thursday, December 8, 2011 - 8:15 PM</title>
<link>http://www.guitar9.com/news.html</link>
<description><a href="http://www.guitar9.com/abnormalthought.html">Abnormal Thought Patterns</a> is a mathematical instrumental trio that fuses heavy riffs, intricate time signatures and shredding solos. Abnormal Thought Patterns is comprised of the core and founding members of heralded technical act Zero Hour, the band was formed by Northern California-based brothers Jasun and Troy Tipton (both also of Cynthesis) and Mike Guy. In order to complete the live sound, the trio recruited longtime friend and talented guitarist Richard Sharman, a student of Jasun's for many years. The four-part epic "Velocity and Acceleration" and bass-only track "Ulnar Nerve Damage" were mixed by talented producer/engineer Dino Alden (Marty Friedman, Zero Hour), but due to Dino's carpal surgeries the band reached out to Matt LaPlant (Sikth, Nonpoint) to mix the tracks "The Machine Within" and "Electric Sun." The EP was mastered by Alan Douches (Between The Buried and Me, The Dillinger Escape Plan) and the cover artwork commissioned to Erick "Wurm" Pollard.

<title>"Beyond Black Mirrors" By Ben Kuzay Now Available - Wednesday, November 30, 2011 - 12:41 AM</title>
<link>http://www.guitar9.com/news.html</link>
<description>From one of music's extraordinary visionaries comes a breathtaking masterpiece. Deep atmosphere and technical skill rarely come in the same package. Ben Kuzay has created a majestic painting on a canvas of silence. Art for the sake of art- expression emanating from the depths of the human soul. Through introversion, introspection, and pain-staking solitary contemplation, Kuzay has created an album that will move every person it touches. A wide range of moods and musical genres are present on this album: ambiance, gothic splendor, dreamy soundscapes, love, hate, pain, fear, joy, togetherness and desolation all come to life through the tips of his fingers. Expressing the entire spectrum of emotions, no spiritual leaf has been left unturned. Have you ever wondered what the black shine of a soul looks like? If you close your eyes and listen, you will see it. <a href="http://www.guitar9.com/beyondblackmirrors.html">"Beyond Black Mirrors"</a> will take you to a place you've never been, but have always longed to be.
