RZ System is a Nebraska trio with a lot of talent - Guitarist Mark Zavon and bassist Troy Johnson were featured in Guitar Player's Spotlight column and Drumer Todd Roberson was featured in DRUM! magazine's "new blood" column.
Their second CD "Greenhouse Effect" is the follow up to the band's debut EP/CD, and the music is even better than the first with better all around songriting that doesn't short change you on the virtuosity. Though the playing is great it never falls into show-off jamming. A cover of Tommy Bolin's "Savannah Woman" and the ballad "Floating in a Bowl" are highlights but it's all good. The production is excellent making this one of the best independent instrumental releases out.
