Laszlo Halper is a Hungarian Roma guitarist. He graduated from the Batrok Bela Jazz Conservatory in Budapest, where his teacher was Gyula Babos. Upon graduation he went to Vienna and Studied at the American Institute of Music where Les Wise helped him to improve his style. After his studies he began to play with Angus "Bangus" Thomas who had earlier performed with Miles Davis (World Tour, 1985). In addition he played with different famous jazz and blues musicians. Now recording under the project name Urban Noises, on Gray Days, Halper literally takes urban noises such as iron cutters to use as rhythmic devices.
