The Whiteful Jazz Quartet was formed in 1997 by some students of the Jazz Department at the Music Academy of Budapest, under the leadership of guitarist Attila Csikos. The name of the band is actually a play on words, a Hungarian word written in English, meaning 'very good musical ear.' In their songs found on Future In The Past, The Whiteful Jazz Quartet merge the elements of folk songs of the middle Eastern Euopean area with contemporary music into modern jazz. The art of Bela Bartok, Mick Goodrick, Bob Mintzer, Steve Khan, Branford Marsalis, Pat Metheny and Joe Diorio all influence the music of the four members. Voice also plays an important part; to a lesser degree it gives a traditional vocal function with lyrics, and at other times it's used as an effect and as an instrument that actually solos. Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Jazz), total running time, 52:34
