The "Be-Bop" Guitars is a guitar ensemble made up of members of the faculty at Berklee College Of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. For those of you familiar with their first CD, "The Be-Bop Guitars ...And More!", John Baboian and the band welcome you back for Freshly Painted Blues. which features some of the compositions and arrangements that have been in their book for the past few years. Tracks include "I'll Never Go Back To Georgia Brown", a melody based on the harmony of the classic "Sweet Georgia Brown"; "Salt Peanuts", a classic "bop" song by Dizzy Gillespie with a guitar-friendly arrangement; "Waltz For Ruth", a simple and beautiful melody in 3/4 time written by the great bassist Charlie Haden; and "Octaves For Wes", which honors one of the greatest jazz guitarists in history, Wes Montgomery.
