Progressive/Fusion
Fresh Blood is a progressive rock CD from Ozone Quartet, an all-instrumental rock band from Raleigh, North Carolina. The group, formed in 1992, combines the talents of Hollis Brown (violin), Francis Dyer (drums), Kenny Thompson (guitar), and Wayne Leechford (Chapman Stick). Ozone Quartet's members are seasoned performers and recording artists with influences ranging broadly from rock to jazz to classical. The band's music is being compared by critics and fans to art rock/fusion pioneers like King Crimson, Dixie Dregs, and Mahavishnu Orchestra. Despite these comparisons, Ozone Quartet's sound is totally unique. One critic states, "The band's intricate arrangements, full of twisted, syncopated rhythms underscored by blazing guitar notes and graceful electric violin, comes off like Jean-Luc Ponty fronting King Crimson," while anther writes, "Ozone Quartet's amalgamation of graceful syncopation and roaming melodies achieves the rare distinction of being tasteful art rock. Fresh Blood showcases the band's slinky and listener friendly art rock that maintains a power to engage almost any
listener." Definately progressive, and definately rock. Instrumental Guitar (Electric/Progressive/Fusion), total running time, 46:07 - Ozone Quartet @ iTunes!
