This piece sets the pace for this recording. There are three distinct parts with one of my favorites in the final section; trading with Gonzalo Rubalcaba.

This is the first piece I wrote for this recording. It encompasses all of what I have absorbed in these last few years with the attitude and energy of my earlier recordings.

"Meninas" in Portuguese is the word for "girls". It is one of my all-time favorite Gismonti compositions. I felt the urge to call Egberto in Brazil and ask him for the chart, especially for this recording. When hearing this incredible melody on long trips, I had always gotten an intense feeling, missing my two beautiful daughters, Oriana and Valentina.

This piece was inspired by the heavy Cuban culture, incredible sights, and imagery that exist in Miami where this entire project was recorded.

I always loved playing and changing the strict rhythmic structure of one of my heroes, composer Astor Piazzolla. This one sounds as if Havana and Buenos Aires meet, due to the heavily inflicted syncopation.

This piece reminds me of something from an avant-garde circus, perhaps along the same premise as the renowned "Cirque Du Soleil".

I originally recorded this Chick Corea classic on my "Casino" recording in 1978, with Anthony Jackson on bass. The 2002 version is a completely new funky rendition, with myself on drums and Stratocastor guitar (not at the same time!), Mario on acoustic piano, and Anthony Jackson in a kind of jam-like version.
