"Flamenco Direct" features a selection of Toques by the largely self-taught flamenco innovator, Carlos Montoya. Beyond the basics, a flamenco guitarist doesn't learn from other guitarists - they must create their own music. Montoya sits down to play a concert or record an album with this attitude: a desire to play as the spirit moves him so that he can communicate with his listeners. "Flamenco Direct" comes the closest of any recording to hearing Montoya and his guitar in person.
