teven Dillon is a fingerstyle guitarist from Yorktown in the USA. Steven
impresses with his debut album" First of All. His roots refer most to the
Bluegrass, Folk and Rock music. He has some influences of Don Ross
and Leo Kottke, but he certainly has his own unique guitar style. On "First
of All"you hear beautiful melody lines combined with original compositions.
On some tracks you hear that he is a real speed picker, as on "Whistle
while you walk" and "Jed's place". On "Summer Rain" and "Rusty's Spirit
he captures emotional landscapes in a very warm melancholic ambience.
"Both of two Worlds" has a beautiful melody line with an attractive bass
line which makes that this composition has a dancing character. "If Only"
refers to influences of Don Ross with rich overtones and flageolets. Yet
in all compositions on this album Steven Dillon manages to combine
technique and emotion in a unique guitar style. What also makes this
album attractive is the song writing capabilities of Steven Dillon. Certainly
"First Of All is an album that will attract most likely any guitar player and
listener.
