Heavy Metal/Fusion
Bristling with guitar-driven fury, Pascal Allaigre's Firelight is the third album in his instrumental guitar trilogy, beginning with "Out Of Nowhere" and "Timeless". Allaigre's chops seem to be increasing geometrically over the years - blazing tracks such the opening title track, "Max Groove Pt. 3", and the opus "The Lost Pyramid" will simply knock your socks off with their frightening array of heavy, melodically evocative and freaked-out licks. A great change of pace is the acoustically fueled "Gibralter", which Allaigre still manages to infuse with lines that seem to exceed the limits of human capability. For a taste of the Friedman/Becker style of metal, check out the closing track, "The Undiscovered Land", over twelve minutes of mind-blowing axework. Grab this disc while you can! Instrumental Guitar (Electric (Heavy)/Heavy Metal/Fusion), total running time, 61:12
