Review of "Evil Shred"
|
By: Mike Sandomirsky
he name Frankenshred conjures up some scary images, lock up your daughter's and hide your women away!! Seriously though the only thing scary about this Frankenshred is there terrifying array of musical virtuosity. These guys can play. Frankenshred is a three piece over the top guitar slinging instrumental band from Phoenix Arizona. The band consists of Dr. Frankenshred on Guitar, World War Spencer on Bass and Kelly Knight on Drums. There new Cd "Evil Shred", which will soon be released by Guitar9 records, is a smoldering collection of shred at it's best. This is one tight unit with all three musicians displaying a level of technical expertise and musical knowledge that is seldom found in today's music. This is one very well put together package of instrumental songs. The CD rips through everything from menacing thrash like melodies to neo-classical flights of fancy and everything in between. Dr. Frankenshred let's his guitar do the talking and talk he does!! This guitar virtuoso has the complete package. He grinds into songs like the title track "Evil Shred" and blows some very cool ultra fast arpeggiated runs. Another stand out track is "Haunted Mansion" where the good Dr. struts his well honed rhythm skills and blasts through a very nice mixture of neo-classical type runs. Aside from the good Dr's guitar gymnastics, the CD features a solo effort from both World War Spencer and Kelly Knight. Both of these musicians shine on their respective solo contributions. From start to finish "Evil Shred" delivers the goods.
If you are a fan of instrumental guitar oriented music - this CD is a must have!!
