"Essential Michael Schenker Group" collects the best tracks from the MSG recordings from 1980 through 1984 ("The Michael Schenker Group", "MSG", "Assault Attack" and "Built To Destroy"), plus one unreleased track from the "Built To Destroy" sessions entitled "Don't Take It Out On Me". Instrumental fans will love the inclusion of classic instrumentals such as "Into The Arena", "Bijou Pleasurette" and "Captain Nemo", as well as the extended instrumental break closing the track "Attack Of Mad Axeman". The collection reinforces Schenker's near legendary status within the metal and guitar crowds - as Pete Prown puts it in the liner notes, "The image of the axeman bent over his Flying V, executing classical runs with unbelievable agility and then literally squeezing out the highest, most soulful notes possible, is to many the quintessence of our modern guitar hero."
