Review of "Engines Of Creation"

oe's not playing it safe, that's for sure. Satch dives headfirst into electronica and ambient soundscapes. Mad drums and percussion are the catalyst for Joe to intertwine his cosmic playing. Together with the help of computer recording genius Eric C Joe has captured a vast array of texture and guitar colors. He's painting a new picture this time out and the pictures are futuristic and happening. Even the slower songs like "Until We Say Goodbye" and "Clouds Race Across the Sky" (which has a Flamenco background) have heavy duty beats and percussion. This catapults Engines of Creation into the current music climate. "Slow and Easy" has a cool purposeful groove, with Joe playing what sounds like a sitar and his electric guitar. I'd compare this album's creativity to Flying Through A Blue Dream (my favorite Satriani album). For those of you who are already fans of Joe, you'll welcome this with open arms. For those who aren't, this is an excellent opportunity to discover the Silver Surfer guitarist's world.
