nother guitarist I kept hearig about from years ago and never picked anything up to give him a listen. In the age of proclaimed guitarists, Firkins name is always spoken of fitting the bill of ingenuity and fluidly talent. As like the label, Firkins is a resident of Nebraska and had influences of blues and country all his life. His unique style can stray from all of that though when he wans to and has proven that over the years when he was on Shrapnel Records (I had to borrow some stuff off my buddy to familiarize this point in time) and later considered with Guitarist and Guitar Player magazines as "best new talent" and "one of the most influential players of the next ten years". Which now brings us up to date with "Decomposition"; no it's not a Death metal CD it's decomposing other people's songs in instrumental fashion. There is one original on here called "The Window" and the covers range from Rick Derringer, Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Henry Mancini and believe it or not, Prince! Some awesome steel guitar on here with blues licks and flawless playing throughout. Makes me want to just sit back and relish the Eric Johnson and SRV releases when I heard this but Firkins is definately unique in his own way.
