Fantaisie-Impromptu is a swift piano piece with a jazz-like quality. The piece begins on C#m (the I chord) flowing into D# half diminshed (the ii chord) G#7 (the V chord) and returns again tp C#m. The piece then modulates (changes keys) to E (through the IV chord F#m in C#m) through G#m and B7 (the III and V chord in E). After returning to C#m, the piece modulates to Db for a slow melodic movement.
