Hi and welcome. I hope to to give you some new ideas about playing arpeggios. This first exercise shows all the positions of a F major arpeggio. If you would like to play the same arpeggios with other chords it is very simple just to move the positions on the neck of your guitar. For example, to play G major, move each arpeggio up the neck two frets.

1.
|------------1-5|------------5-8|--------------8-13|
|----------1----|----------6----|-----------10-----|
|--------2------|--------5------|--------10--------|
|------3--------|------7--------|-----10-----------|
|----3----------|--3-8----------|8-12--------------|
|1-5------------|5--------------|8-----------------|

|------------------13-17|------------------17-20|
|---------------13------|---------------18------|
|------------14---------|------------17---------|
|---------15------------|---------19------------|
|------15---------------|---15-20---------------|
|13-17------------------|17---------------------|

|------------------20-(25)|
|---------------22--------|
|------------22-----------|
|---------22--------------|
|---20-24-----------------|
|20-----------------------|

This second one demonstrates F minor positions.

2.
|------------1-4|------------4-8|
|----------1----|----------6----|
|--------1------|--------5------|
|------3--------|------6--------|
|----3----------|--3-8----------|
|1-4------------|4--------------|

|-------------8-13|------------------13-16|
|-----------9-----|---------------13------|
|--------10-------|------------13---------|
|-----10----------|---------15------------|
|8-11-------------|------15---------------|
|8----------------|13-16------------------|

|------------------16-20|------------------20-(25)|
|---------------18------|---------------21--------|
|------------17---------|------------22-----------|
|---------18------------|---------22--------------|
|---15-20---------------|---20-23-----------------|
|16---------------------|20-----------------------|

A very intersting thing is now try to combine these two positions with other chords creating the effect of "movement" while you are playing arpeggio sequences. You should use a lot of these positions but not the entire arpeggio...for example you can choose to play the first 5 notes on the low strings of first position of A major and immediately you can play 4 notes on the high strings of B minor as in this example. 3.
|---------|----7-10-|14-10------|-----------|
|---------|--7------|------10---|-----------|
|--------6/7--------|---------11\9----------|
|------7--|---------|-----------|--11-------|
|----7----|---------|-----------|-----12-7--|
|5-9------|---------|-----------|----------9|
|-A major-|-B minor-|-D major---|-A major---|

Or play more positions from the same chord.

4.
|9-5------------------------12-9---------------|
|----5-------------------14------10------------|
|------6/9----------9/14------------9\6--------|
|----------11----11---------------------7------|
|-------------12--------------------------7----|
|-------------------------------------------9-5|
| A major

|---------------------------7-10/14-10------------------------|
|-------------------------7------------12----12/15------------|
|11----------11\7-------7-----------------11-------16\11------|
|---12----12------9---9----------------------------------12---|
|------14-----------9---------------------------------------14|
|-------------------------------------------------------------|
| B minor

This is another example that combines D major, A major and B minor.

5.
|---------------------------------------14-17-14----------14-17-|
|------------------------------------15----------15----15-------|
|------------11-14-11----------11/14----------------14----------|
|---------12----------12----12----------------------------------|
|------12----------------12-------------------------------------|
|10-14----------------------------------------------------------|

|12----------12-14-10----------10-5-----------|
|---14----14----------12----12------5---------|
|------14----------------11-----------6-------|
|---------------------------------------7-----|
|-----------------------------------------7---|
|-------------------------------------------9-|

This last one is foreign to my guitar style because it is based on major7 and minor7 arpeggios but I really like this sequence, and above all, these other arpeggios are very important when creating new guitar solos. I relly hope you enjoyed these examples and if you want to know more about me, or find more exercises and transcriptions, visit my site.
