Review of "Chasing The Sun"
|
By: Carl Roa
reat tone. Great phrasing. Superior writing... That is what "Chasing The Sun" is all about! Culled from a rare collection of demo tracks recorded by Poland from the years 1994 through 1999, the CD has elements of Prog, Fusion, Jazz, and groove heavy rock. Poland draws from a vast library of influences including John McLaughlin, Jeff Beck, and Jimi Hendrix... and some pieces are even reminiscent of John Scofield's fusion work with Dennis Chambers. But, surely Poland has found his own niche and sound. It is truly refreshing to hear someone approach writing and playing with such a diverse arsenal of musical ideas. Chris is a true talent and this CD is a testament to the musicianship and fortitude of this unique and gifted player. Five Stars!
