Review of "Chapter Eleven"
|
By: John Nicholas
irkins' "Chapter Eleven" is not as hard as the guitarist's self-titled debut, but has great songwriting. The overall playing is more introspective and the country side of his playing is most evident. "Big Red" opens the CD and along with "RH Express" show Michael with the country influence on high. While the songwriting is very good I do miss the lyrical soloing from the first CD. The rhythm playing is top notch and the solos are still creative and melodic. "Trinity Road", a ballad, and "Car-less Sonata", a funky blues rock song, are the highlight pieces and most like his other CDs.
