Dixie Dregs

"California Screamin'"

The Story
The six-time Grammy nominated Dixie Dregs opened the new millennium with the release of "California Screamin'", their first album in six years, on Zebra Records. After a seven-year absence, a three-night Dixie Dregs reunion stormed the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles on August 26th, 27th and 28th, 1999. These special shows showcased the classic 1979 line-up: Steve Morse (guitar), T Lavitz (keyboards), Rod Morgenstein (drums), Allen Sloan (violin) and Andy West (bass) with members from the most recent line-up, bassist Dave LaRue and ex-Mahavishnu Orchestra violinist Jerry Goodman. Frank Zappa's progeny, Dweezil Zappa, makes an appearance on guest guitar on the cover track "Peaches En Regalia" (interestingly, the band also covers Dickey Betts' "Jessica", an Allman Brothers concert favorite). It's time to whistle "Dixie" again in celebration of the fusion event of the year - fans of the Dixie Dregs don't want to miss "California Screamin'" - a monumental 'live' reunion.
