Review of "But Of Course"

By: Henk te Veldhuis

letter he debut album But of Course from Paul Yates is a versatile album with influences referring to country rock, blues, folk and Celtic music. Paul plays as well acoustic as electric guitar. On some pieces Paul gets assist from a bass player, keyboards and drums. There are some nice pieces on this album which soothes the mind, as Fairy Tales and Something May Come. Solid melody line building techniques are ballads like Sunflower and Forgive Yourself. Pure blues rock gets you on Hideaway Blues. Hammer on and Pull off techniques are heard in a descending tonal pattern on Goulburn N.S.W, which has a country taste .Rich overtones can be heard on Skywalk. The whole album gives you the impression of very smooth guitar music.
