Review of "Brother From Another Mother"

By: Wayne Klinger
ust so many guitarists out there in the world and very little of them discovered correctly or to the level they should be. Andy is from Connecticut and the only 2 bands I really know from there are Fates Warning and Liege Lord in which Paul Nelson is from and has been doing his solo career for a few years now. Well yeah, I for got the WWE headquarters is there also..tee hee!
Andy is one of those diehard learners that started out practicing 16 hours a day (sleep much?) and has also dabbled in theory, ear training, compositional and improvisational studies. The result is what Andy calls "Melodic Instrumental Anger Music" and adds his mastery of the 2-hand tapping technique. Andy also possesses a great, strong voice on this 14-track CD that has influences ranging from Vai, "Satch" to Eric Johnson, Yngwie with Larry Carlton, Vivaldi and Brahms thrown in. Once you understand the techniques and influences Andy is about, you understand the music and this guy plays his ass off! Many things going on and the scale of diversity is enormous. There's more notes on this one album than 5 combined "Nu-Metal" band releases..why be a simple listener? Have some ear candy of real balls and true musicmanship with Andy Martin, you won't regret it.
