Victor Gann is an enthusiastic and driven musician/guitarist currently based in Sanger, Texas (USA) who denotes his playing style as instrumental rock, as one might want to hear on his most recent recording, "Victor Gann". His workhorse guitars include a Custom Ibanez (RG) and a Fender Strat. Gann has been playing guitar since 1986, and truthfully shares his career objective, "I am working towards making a name for myself as being a known and respected melodic guitarist. I see myself having a few more releases within the next five years, taking a tour or two around the country and possibly Asia. Also working my way into some guest spots on other artists music, as well as becoming more of a specialized teacher."
When the attempt was made to uncover his definitive or preferred effect for the guitar, Gann purposefully responded with, "Wah," and then volunteered his musicial goals, "I am mainly trying to convey an emotional and lyrical sound to the names of my songs. Such as "Four On The Floor", to me, that is how I interpret that a street race would sound in a palatable way. I really try to put myself in as the subject of the songs so that I can express how they sound to me. My main goal is to make everything somewhat easier to listen to, I am not concerned with speed or certain techniques to showcase in each song. Easily put, I try to place the techniques and styles into each song
that each song calls for." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study again at G.I.T. ("I learned so much in my time there. I use things everyday that I learned. Now that I have more of an understanding I think it would be even more mindblowing the second time"), and is at the moment listening to AC/DC, Joe Satriani and Warner Hodges new material. His most important gratification? "The greatest satisfaction I get is when one of my students "gets it". And by that I mean when they realize that just knowing a little bit of theory can take them a long way. At that point they understand that almost everything is a pattern and feel much less intimated by music which in turn makes them more comfortable with exploring music other than just playing someone else's songs," he muses emphatically.
Gann winds up by detailing long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "As of now I have alot going on. Most days consist of me teaching a few students. I am also in the middle of working on new material for the next CD, which will be my first full length. I am also in talks with some publising and management agencies at this point."
Gann's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Victor Gann", "The Devil's Been Busy").
