Tom Hess is a talented, passionate guitar player from Cary, Illinois (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as progressive/neo-classical/shred, as can be heard on his latest release, "Opus 2". His favorite guitar is a Carvin V220. Hess has played guitar since 1986, and plainly confirms his career goal, "Continuous composing, recording, and touring worldwide."
When asked to reveal his ideal effect for the guitar, Hess countered with, "Distortion," and then detailed his musicial goals, "Musically, I am doing what my goals always have been, I now just seek to refine my skills further." He would like to someday study 19th century virtuoso piano technique, and is at this time listening to Fryderyk Chopin (1810-1849), Henryk Gorecki, SAGE, Dream Theater, Symphony X, Jason Becker, Alice in Chains and George Bellas. His utmost satisfaction? "Successfully expressing myself through my music," he answers decidedly.
Hess mentions continuing and future projects in his own words, "I'm currently composing "Opus 3". I'm also composing 19th century style piano and orchestral works."
