Tom Geldschlager is a passionate, vital guitarist from Springfield (MO) and San Antonio (TX) (U.S.A.) who describes his style as progressive avant-garde fusion metal, as documented on his latest release, "Towards The Mysterium". His guitars of choice include an Ibanez RG2027X Prestige 7-String and an Ibanez JEM. Geldschlager has played guitar since 1998, and openly affirms his career goal, "We are working to be well established in the instrumental music scene and perform our music at many clinics and festivals."
When prompted to reveal his preferred effect for the guitar, Geldschlager responded with, "Delay," and offered his musicial goals, "We hope to bridge the wide schisms between various progressive styles of music. Blending our classical, avant-garde, world and jazz influences in with our progressive metal background is what really inspires us. We would hope to still get a powerful sense of emotion across with our melodies even when we are at our most complex." He would like to someday study indian music, and is currently listening to Frank Zappa, Steve Vai, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Charles Ives, Chick Corea and Shawn Lane. His greatest satisfaction? "When our music goes beyond the norm and develops outside of our influences, when it is most original and strange, that makes me very happy. But I also feel very satisfied when the music tames down to a more beautiful classicism or a jazz-influenced moment. Variety makes me smile," he states unambiguously.
Geldschlager notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "We are working on the next album and have written most of it, so now begins the long and tedious recording process. The next album will be very intense and progressive so that is our main focus. Aside from that there will be lots of session work and jazz festivals with Mikhal Caldwell and others."
