Steve Rotter is a more-than-capable and consummate axe wielder currently based in Carol Stream, Illinois (U.S.A.) who represents his playing style as instrumental hard rock, as a music fan can now experience on his most recent recording, "Wraith". His most utilized guitars consist of a Jackson Dinky Reverse Pro Series and a Peavey Vandenberg. Rotter has been playing guitar since 1987, and straight from the shoulder discloses his career objective, "To get a good following in the Chicago area and continue recording and performing."
When asked to finally make public his favorite or most used effect for the guitar, Rotter unflinchingly stated, "Chorus," and continued by outlining his musicial goals, "Feelings of attitude and mood... colorful power on tape." He eagerly hopes to, at some point, study voice, and is presently listening to Queensryche, Randy Rhoads/Ozzy, Yngwie Malmsteen and Racer X (Paul Gilbert). His principal gratification? "When someone says they enjoyed my music then I've done my job. I set out to give to someone what people gave to me when I started playing; when it felt like Christmas morning as a kid," he explains absolutely.
Rotter wraps up by mentioning current and approaching endeavors enthusiastically, by saying, "Putting a band together and starting to write for a 2nd CD which will be recorded by us in our studio. It's exciting -- same bassist, new drummer and looking for a good vocalist. We're going for the hard rock, Ozzy/Queensryche feel, with classical overtones."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Steve Rotter to guitarists such as John Sykes and others.
Rotter's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Wraith").
