Stef Burns is a committed and highly regarded six-stringer currently based in Benicia, California (U.S.A.) who reveals his playing style as jazz/rock fusion, as a listener can readily experience on his most recent album, "Swamp Tea". His most utilized guitar is a 1991 Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster built by Larry Brooks. Burns has been playing guitar since 1973, and with no holds barred declares his career aspiration, "My second album.(laugh)."
When requested to divulge his one essential effect for the guitar, Burns came back with, "One of my amps in a nice room," and then pointed out his musicial goals, "I try to do what moves me; melody, changes, groove, vibe, and hope that it transmits to the listener." He fervently hopes to one day study a new language, specifically Italian, and is presently listening to Jeff Beck "Who Else", Yellowjackets "Four Corners", Beatles "Magical Mystery Tour" and John Scofield "Loud Jazz". His primary fulfillment? "My four year old son singing "Strawberry Fields Forever" WITH the English accent," he declares categorically.
Burns concludes by listing current and approaching undertakings succinctly, by saying, "Writing songs for my second solo CD. Touring with Vasco Rossi In Italy, and with Alice Cooper. Learning how to use my studio."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Stef Burns to guitarists such as Jeff Beck, Steve Lukather, Joe Satriani and others.
Burns's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Swamp Tea") and participation on a number of other recordings (D'Agostino/Burns "Bayshore Road", Gianluca Sturiale Group "I Wish You", Steve Vai "Various Artists - Archives Vol. 4").
