Shane Theriot is a dynamic and unmistakable musician/guitarist currently based in Nashville, Tennessee (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as rock/fusion, as one might want to hear on his most recent recording, "Highway 90". His workhorse guitars include a Hamer Daytona Strat and a PRS. Theriot has been playing guitar since 1972, and truthfully shares his career objective, "To continue to work with a variety of artists and get my own music heard in the meantime."
When the attempt was made to uncover his definitive or preferred effect for the guitar, Theriot purposefully responded with, "Ibanez tube screamer," and then volunteered his musicial goals, "To forge a new style mixing the roots of Louisiana music with the modern fusion/jazz sounds." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study how to improve my keyboard chops, and is at the moment listening to Stone Temple Pilots, McCoy Tyner and Branford Marsalis. His most important gratification? "Knowing that people have gotten some sort of emotion out of something i worked on, or my own music," he muses emphatically.
Theriot winds up by detailing long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Recording with bassist Adam Nitti and Vinnie Colaiuta on new CD, various projects in Nashville, Hamer clinics and touring Europe and Japan this year with the Neville Brothers."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Shane Theriot to guitarists such as Jimmy Herring, Scott Henderson, Robben Ford and others.
Theriot's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Highway 90", "The Grease Factor", "Dirty Power").
