Sergio Zurawski is an adroit, vital guitarist from Sao Paulo (Brazil) who describes his style as multi-style instrumental with plenty of involving melodious lines, as documented on his latest release, "Pulsares". His guitar of choice is a Fender Strato Custom Shop. Zurawski has played guitar since 1974, and frankly affirms his career goal, "Developing and promoting my career as a solo artist, as well as to intensify and to strengthen my activities related to the composition of soundtracks for theater, dance, movie, TV."
When requested to name his preferred effect for the guitar, Zurawski responded with, "Reverb," and submitted his musicial goals, "Spreading my music all around the world such as most people can listen to it and enjoy it." He would like to someday study piano, and is currently listening to Pink Floyd, Tom Jobim, Djavan, Ethnic and music in general. His greatest satisfaction? "Understanding that music is a transcendental, universal language, independent of the composer's ethnical or geographical origin, so that it can be felt and understood by anyone, no matter what side of the world they are on," he answers indisputably.
Zurawski notes ongoing and upcoming projects thusly, "At present I am recording two different instrumental CD projects. One of them is in association with Edu Vianna, a Brazilian composer, drummer and producer, with the participation of several other musicians. The other one will be only Belchior songs. Belchior is a well known Brazilian singer/songwriter. It is a totally solo project, where I blend lots of acoustic and electric guitars and keyboards, different samples and some drum loops. Although Belchior is not an instrumental composer, he will be revisited here like that. Also I am writing a chronicle book, where I describe situations I lived for 15 years on the road as a side man musician. Next year I will be recording an instrumental CD entirely based on Afro-Brazilian rhythms and percussion."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Sergio Zurawski to guitarists such as Buckethead, Steve Vai, John Petrucci and others.
Zurawski's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Pulsares").
