Scott McGill is a talented, 'righteous' six-stringer from Medford, New Jersey (U.S.A.) who reveals his style as heavy instrumental prog/fusion, as one can clearly experience on his latest album, "Addition By Subtraction". His favorite guitar is a Brian Moore C90P. McGill has played guitar since 1980, and freely declares his career aspiration, "Continue to improve as a player/composer and continue to record and tour playing my material."
When requested to divulge his ultimate effect for the guitar, McGill came back with, "Good sustaining overdrive," and then pointed out his musicial goals, "Thick, true trio sound with no overdub layering. Complete and record a large scale work for pick-style guitar and orchestra." He fervently hopes to one day study yoga and Krav Maga with a master instructor, and is at this time listening to Rage Against The Machine, Art Tatum, Meshuggah, Elliot Carter and James Brown. His primary fulfillment? "Practicing daily," he affirms categorically.
McGill concludes by listing continuing and future undertakings succinctly, by saying, "Taking lessons weekly, guest soloist on other CDs, and touring with The Hand Farm."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Scott McGill to guitarists such as Allan Holdsworth and others.
McGill's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several recording projects (The Alchemists II "The Alchemists II", Jasun Tipton "Seduction").
