Scott McGill is a spirited, sparkling guitar player from Medford, New Jersey (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as heavy instrumental prog/fusion, as one can appreciate on his latest release, "Addition By Subtraction". His favorite guitar is a Brian Moore C90P. McGill has played guitar since 1980, and plainly avows his career goal, "Continue to improve as a player/composer and continue to record and tour playing my material."
When asked to name his number one effect for the guitar, McGill countered with, "Good sustaining overdrive," and then cited his musicial goals, "Thick, true trio sound with no overdub layering. Complete and record a large scale work for pick-style guitar and orchestra." He hopes to someday study yoga and Krav Maga with a master instructor, and is at this time listening to Rage Against The Machine, Art Tatum, Meshuggah, Elliot Carter and James Brown. His utmost satisfaction? "Practicing daily," he answers unquestionably.
McGill details continuing and future projects in his own words, "Taking lessons weekly, guest soloist on other CDs, and touring with The Hand Farm."
