June, 1998 More [Artist Bios]

Richard James is a self-motivated, passionate guitar player from Long Beach, California (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as hard rock (vocal and instrumental), as can be heard on his latest release, "Hottest Unknown Guitarists". photoHis favorite guitars include a Jackson Strat and a Carvin. James has played guitar since 1983, and plainly confirms his career goal, "To eventually get a world wide release on a major label or big indie label."

When asked to reveal his ideal effect for the guitar, James countered with, "Digital reverb," and then detailed his musicial goals, "For people to feel the same emotions that I have when writing and performing a song. To be remembered." He would like to someday study production of movie and TV soundtrack music, and is at this time listening to Native American Indian music, Joe Satriani and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. His utmost satisfaction? "Completing a new song and listening to the final tape, hearing how everything falls together," he answers decidedly.

photoJames mentions continuing and future projects in his own words, "Constantly writing and recording new material. Shopping my new songs to some bigger labels and hoping for a deal. Also working on background music for movies."

James's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Reflections") and participation on another recording (JSR Records "Hottest Unknown Guitarists").
