Philippe Thibaut is a driven and seasoned musician/guitarist currently based in Mons (Belgium) who denotes his playing style as instrumental rock, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Outside Limit". His workhorse guitar is a Steinberger. Thibaut has been playing guitar since 1980, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "To release more CDs."
When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Thibaut resolutely answered, "Wah wah," and then outlined his musicial goals, "I try and I hope that people who listen to my compositions feel the same good sensation or emotion as I feel." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study drums, and is at the moment listening to Freak Kitchen and Mattias IA Eklundh. His most important gratification? "When someone listens to my music, buys my CD and says to me or writes me that he or she appreciates my songs," he muses without hesitation.
Thibaut winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "My third self-produced CD is ready, it contains 15 songs: 11 compositions, 4 covers (2 of Jimi Hendrix, 1 of Steve Morse and 1 of Extreme), 3 songs are sung with 3 differents singers, there are two bass players and a drummer on some of the songs. I'll use a pseudonym: "THEEBO". In a few weeks, there will be MP3 sound clips of each song on my web site as well as MP3 sound clips of each song from the two CDs: "Free Play" and "Outside Limit"."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Philippe Thibaut to guitarists such as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani and others.
Thibaut's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes several solo albums ("Free Play", "Eventful World") and participation on another recording (Theebo "Guitar Planet").
