Paul Abbott is a more-than-capable, potent guitar player from San Diego, California (U.S.A.) who expresses his style as acoustic instrumental, as can be heard on his latest release, "Unsung". His guitars of choice consist of a Guild A50 and a Taylor 510. Abbott has played guitar since 1980, and frankly confirms his career goal, "To establish my label, Rhythmicon Records."
When asked to reveal his ideal effect for the guitar, Abbott countered with, "My imagination," and then detailed his musicial goals, "Continue to develop my compositions, for guitar and elsewhere." He would like to someday study theremin, and is currently listening to new music. His utmost satisfaction? "Composing," he answers decidedly.
Abbott mentions ongoing and upcoming projects in his own words, "Writing music for my second CD, which is now being sketched out. My first CD focused on solo guitar. I'd like to have the second one develop small ensemble relationships."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Paul Abbott to guitarists such as Marty Friedman, Michael Romeo, Buckethead, Francesco Fareri and others.
Abbott's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Unsung") and participation on a number of other recordings (Mario Aleman "Soulspeak", Mike Keneally "Hat", San Diego Instrumentalists "Enough Talk, Acoustic Guitar Compilation, Vol. 1").
