Paul Abbott is an altogether exciting and seasoned musician/guitarist currently based in San Diego, California (U.S.A.) who denotes his playing style as acoustic instrumental, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Unsung". His workhorse guitars include a Guild A50 and a Taylor 510. Abbott has been playing guitar since 1980, and putting it simply, relates his career objective, "To establish my label, Rhythmicon Records."
When requested to let slip his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Abbott resolutely answered, "My imagination," and then outlined his musicial goals, "Continue to develop my compositions, for guitar and elsewhere." He maintains a desire to, at some point, study theremin, and is at the moment listening to new music. His most important gratification? "Composing," he explains without hesitation.
Abbott winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Writing music for my second CD, which is now being sketched out. My first CD focused on solo guitar. I'd like to have the second one develop small ensemble relationships."
Guitar Nine Records visitors have compared the playing style and/or musical approach of Paul Abbott to guitarists such as Marty Friedman, Michael Romeo, Buckethead, Francesco Fareri and others.
Abbott's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Unsung") and participation on a number of other recordings (Mario Aleman "Soulspeak", Mike Keneally "Hat", San Diego Instrumentalists "Enough Talk, Acoustic Guitar Compilation, Vol. 1", John Westmoreland "Resonant Frequency").
