Neil Brocklebank is a dynamic and expressive musician/guitarist currently based in York (England) who denotes his playing style as rock guitar, as a music fan can hear on his most recent recording, "Audio Violence". His workhorse guitars include an Ibanez RG540P2 and a Maverick 'Neil Brocklebank' signature model. Brocklebank has been playing guitar since 1983, and unreservedly relates his career objective, "The UK doesn't seem to produce great rock guitar players any more. Something must be done and in a humble way I'm flying the flag. It would be great to be seen as someone who reversed the trend of the last decade or so. My main aim, however, is to 'entertain' people with the guitar."
When asked to disclose his top choice for an effect for the guitar, Brocklebank resolutely answered, "Distortion," and outlined his musicial goals, "To express real life emotions, probably a lot of dark anger that has built up over the years. Audio Violence album was very specific. The meanings in the songs are explained both on the album sleeve and on the neilbrocklebank.com web site." He keeps open the possibility to, at some point, study with a huge iconic artist, someone perhaps who inspired him when he was young, and is at the moment listening to Foofighters, Disturbed, Chilli Peppers and Dream Theater. His most important gratification? "Playing guitar live, best feeling in the world," he muses confidently.
Brocklebank winds up by mentioning long-term and forthcoming endeavors insightfully, by saying, "Composing, programming and generally wood-shedding. "
Brocklebank's discography (available here at Guitar Nine Records) includes one solo album ("Audio Violence").
