Neal Nagaoka is an accomplished and highly regarded six-stringer currently based in Los Angeles (California U.S.A.) who reveals his playing style as instrumental shred, as a listener can readily experience on his most recent album, "Transition". His most utilized guitar is an ESP Horizon. Nagaoka has been playing guitar since 1984, and with no holds barred declares his career aspiration, "To make a decent living playing music. Also to be teaching, to release several albums and to be touring everywhere."
When requested to divulge his one essential effect for the guitar, Nagaoka came back with, "Lexicon MPX-1 Reverb," and then pointed out his musicial goals, "I want my audience to get a feeling of awe and satisfaction every time they hear my music." He fervently hopes to one day study the law of physics ("So I can understand why the G string goes out of tune everytime I slide on it really hard"), and is presently listening to a lot of instrumental music. His primary fulfillment? "Every time I finish recording a new tune and every time I see one of my students improving as a player," he declares categorically.
Nagaoka concludes by listing current and approaching undertakings succinctly, by saying, "I am teaching at GIT and I have recorded a few new tunes for my next CD. I am also in the process of assembling a band so I can better promote my CD. Another project I am planning is a CD with vocals. Last but not least, I will be doing some clinics around the LA area in the near future to help promote Vibro Tek's Double Whammy Tremolo Systems."
